Course Summary:

Master the skills essential for precision and success with our Long Range Hunter Development Course. Designed for serious hunters, this expert-led program covers rifle zero distance selection, ballistic data use, scope theory, marksmanship fundamentals, wind theory, high angle shooting, external ballistics, terminal ballistics, alternate shooting positions, and firearm component/gear selection. Gain hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge to confidently engage targets at extended ranges, ensuring ethical and effective hunting. Elevate your proficiency and prepare for challenging hunts with comprehensive training tailored to the dedicated long-range hunter.

Participants will complete this course with a rifle properly zeroed and tested for accurate muzzle velocity using the ammunition they brought or plan to use. They will create a detailed gun profile within a leading ballistic software program, learning how to utilize it effectively during their hunts. Students will assess their ability to engage vital zone-sized targets at distances from 200 to around 600 yards, and in some cases further.  They will gain a clear understanding of their personal shooting skills and their weapon system’s capabilities and limitations, along with guidance on selecting suitable gear for their specific hunting objectives.

Required:

Student supplies their own rifle and optic.  It is preferred the rifle is compatible with a bipod.  It is the students choice to bring either magnum or standard hunting cartridge rifle for this class (Magnum rifles are not required). 

Students should be of physical condition to shoot from the prone and other alternate positions.  Students will not be working off a shooting bench.

Student will bring 150-200 rounds of the same ammunition.  Preferred to be of a hunter match quality

Rifle scope manual for the rifle scope in which you bring

Pack or gear bag to carry all their personal gear from one place to another

Note Paper/Pen for writing down notes and data collection

Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks for the entire day

*Students are expected to understand how to safely operate their weapon system when they arrive
